The editors at Food Network Magazine have named the “Avocado,” a cleverly made ice cream dessert at Seviche, the best ice cream treat in Kentucky.

Sweet, no?

No, really, it is, believe it or not.

According to a news release, Seviche is one of 50 restaurants featured in Food Network Magazine’s story “50 States, 50 Ice Cream Treats,” a sweet spin on the magazine’s annual feature story on the best dishes from coast to coast.

“Every summer we eat our way across the country looking for the best foods for our ‘50 States’ feature, and after tackling hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches and breakfast, we thought it was time to cover ice cream,” Maile Carpenter, editor in chief of Food Network Magazine, said in a release. “We worked with food writers in every state to track down the best of the best.”

The dessert was first served last year at Seviche’s inaugural Dinner and Movie event, when the featured flick was “El Bulli,” a documentary on the famed Spanish restaurant.

Chef-owner Anthony Lamas’s crew teamed up to create a special chocolate mold to mimic the skin of an avocado, filled that with avocado ice cream—yes, that’s right, and it tastes incredible—and then studded that with a dulce du leche pit.

The dish was featured recently on America’s Best Bites, and it will be featured again on another TV food show … but it’s too early to reveal the details without the network’s permission.
