Yet another opportunity to dip into the world of local brewing will occur Friday Oct. 17 at Slugger Field, at the 2014 Louisville Brewfest. The $5 basic admission gets you in and give gives you a souvenir cup. After that, drink and food tickets are $1 each.

A 12-ounce beer or a 4-ounce wine pour will cost 4 tickets, but a wee dram of  Bourbon (1/2 ounce) will be just one ticket. Food prices will vary. But, for High Rollers, a $45 VIP package will get you access to a special brew that will be available only in the VIP section, a signed copy of Kevin Gibson’s  new “Louisville Beer: Derby City History on Draft,” a 16-ounce Brewfest pint glass that can be used for full pour purchases (2-ounces more pour than general admission mugs), 12 vending tickets (to be used for beer, wine, bourbon, or food anywhere in event), complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a separate VIP entrance, covered seating area with tables, adjacent to the field, and other more or less useful tchotchkes. Parking at Slugger Field will be $5. The invitation we got had a useful addendum: “This event is not particularly kid-friendly. If you must bring your little one, please do not bring strollers. Thanks!”
