Tuan Phan, a chef who has cooked his way around the local restaurant scene for years, is planning to open Pho Café at 1704 Bardstown Rd., in the complex that also houses Sapporo and Super Chefs. The restaurant will serve pho, a Vietnamese noodle soup dish, as well as other noodle dishes.

Phan, who left Vietnam in 1981 as a refugee, worked at Asiatique for 18 years, and more recently, Dish on Market for three years.

Tom + Chee, a Cincinnati-based grilled cheese restaurant chain, closed their Highland location, their last in the area, earlier this year. Phan has to complete some renovations to the space, which he thinks is the right location for what he plans to serve.
