Tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m., Decca, 812 E. Market St., is preparing for a gloves-off, no-holds-barred battle as two competing wine purveyors go head-to-head in a pairing competition the likes of which has not been seen in….or something like that.

In humbler and more forthright terms, Michael Taylor of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and Ken Brown of Dauntless Distributing will each choose a wine to pair with each of the four courses that Decca chef Annie Pettry will prepare. Dining guests will sample each wine selection with the course, and vote on their favorite wine and food pairing.

The menu that will challenge the sophistication of the wine geeks will begin with pan-roasted mussels with spiced sausage, white beans, greens and preserved lemon; followed by a shaved apple salad with mustard greens, candied walnuts and Parmesan dressing. The third course will be tagliatelle bolognese with chevre, parsley and lemon, and the main course will be wood-grilled rib eye with embered onions, sunchokes, blue cheese and black garlic.

The dinner, wine pairings and chance to vote will be $65. Emailing dan@deccarestaurant.com. For more information, go to deccarestaurant.com.
