The experiment by Eggheadz LLC, the developers of Wild Eggs and Wild Rita’s,  to expand into fast casual Italian food has ended with the abrupt closing of Strati Wild Italian, at 1702 Bardstown Rd.

A posting on the door this week announced the news to its customer base: “It is with heavy hearts and great disappointment that we announce the closing of Strati Wild Italian. We’d like to thank everybody that chose to eat in our restaurant and for your continued patronage over the last 10 months. Sorry for any inconvenience & we apologize for the short notice and hope you understand.”

The restaurant, which opened 10 months ago, let customers customize their own pasta, wraps and salads. Strati Wild Italian was a concept from Eggheadz LLC, the restaurant group headed by restaurateurs Shane Hall and J.D. Rothberg. Local media reported in May that they had decided to relinquish most of the management decisions of both Strati Wild Italian and Wild Rita’s Mexican & Tequila Bar to others so they could better focus on developing their Wild Eggs restaurant chain, which has been growing here and in Colorado.
