Pinning down the opening of a new restaurant is as difficult as catching minnows barehanded. Just ask any restaurant operator or reporter.

But there’s lots of talk about new places opening up in Louisville, and we have them for you, albeit without official dates, just best guesses:

  • According to operating partner Larry Rice, El Camino, the second restaurant owned by the same team behind The Silver Dollar, will open in mid-September. That site last was Avalon, and it’s located dead center in the Bardstown Road restaurant row.
  • Tony Palombino’s newest Boombozz Pizza & Taphouse will also open mid-September on Veterans Parkway in Clarksville. That site was last a Beef O’ Brady’s.
  • The partners behind Rye will open a new restaurant at 605 W. Main Street—you guessed it, in September—but there are no details yet on the concept. Given Rye’s coolness factor, we’re excited to know more.
  • Guy Genoud, former general manager at the English Grill and, most recently, food and beverage manager at the Marriott Hotel downtown (home to Blu Italian Grill), has announced he’ll open a French restaurant in the former Tony Roma’s spot on Hurstbourne Lane near Shelbyville Road. It will be called Brasserie Provence.
  • Erika Chavez Graziano, the talent behind Cellar Door Chocolates, is in the construction phase of her new café, Jackknife, in Butchertown Market. Hopefully that means the restaurant will be open by the fall.
  • Lastly, and it’s not really an opening, but Havana Rumba Express is open for lunch as of July 15.
