Various outlets have reported the upcoming openings of several chain restaurants around the area. These include two small chains from Lexington, and a new frozen yogurt shop in New Albany.

Vinaigrette Salad Kitchen is planning to open at 203 N. Hurstbourne Pkwy., in a space that most recently was Chop Shop Salads. Vinaigrette’s menu includes salads and soups, tacos and sandwiches.

Vinaigrette’s first outlet was on Leestown Road in the Townley Park area of Lexington in 2014, and it now has two locations in Lexington and is planning a third there in addition to the Louisville one.

Another Lexington-based food business, North Lime Coffee and Donuts is opening a location on the edge of Old Louisville, at 701 W. Ormsby Ave., near South Seventh St. Along with the usual choices – glazed or chocolate – North Lime also offers specialty doughnuts, such as chicken and waffle and a bacon-topped maple doughnut.

North Lime has three locations in Lexington.

And across the river, SweetFrog Premium Frozen Yogurt has opened its third Kentuckiana location at 302 Pearl St., a site that puts it in direct competition with Comfy Cow.

The shop, based in Virginia, carries 14 frozen yogurt flavors and more than 80 add-on toppings, and already operates two other area locations in Clarksville and Jeffersontown.
