Out of all the National Bourbon Month events taking place in the city, it would only make sense to stop by the aptly named Bourbons Bistro (2255 Frankfort Ave.) at least once in September, right?

If you need a reason to do so, here are two good ones:

On Friday, Sept. 27, the Frankfort Ave. Trolley Hop begins at 7 p.m., and per usual, Bourbons is participating by showing off its newly renovated bourbon-inspired private event space where you can enjoy local music, local art and local spirits in the form of specials you cannot find anywhere else on the strip.

The big event, however, is Monday, Sept. 30, when it hosts a Jim Beam tasting and four-course dinner with special guest Fred Noe, IV, the spirits giant’s seventh-generation master distiller.

If you’ve never met a classic Kentucky distiller, this guy’s the archetype: funny, humble, smart and personable. (If this gives you any idea with a regular guy he is, we chatted him up at the recent Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown, where we talked about how to make country hams. Multitalented guy, he is.) He’ll be on hand to discuss everything made by Jim Beam, and you likely know that’s a lot, plus he’ll talk about bourbon’s resurgence.

Want to get some really cool insights? Ask him about how bourbon makers are targeting women. You may be surprised to learn it’s not just with fruity accented drinks, but just the bare spirit itself. (Go, girls!)

The bourbon dinner is $50 per person (plus tax and gratuity), and reservations can be made by calling (502) 894-8838 or emailing events@bourbonsbistro.com.
