Bastille Day is only a week away. For those who are not committed Francophiles, Bastille Day is July 14, the date of the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris that marked the start of the French Revolution in 1789. In France, July 14 is as big a patriotic holiday as July 4 is here in the States, or, as the French would say, les Etats Unis. And, of course, Brasserie Provence, perhaps Louisville’s most Francophilic restaurant, has some celebration in mind.

Brasserie Provence, 150 N. Hurstbourne Pkwy., will hold its annual Bastille Day Celebration Friday, July 14 starting at 5 p.m., with Cincinnati Band FRENCHAXE playing their original French music from 6-9 p.m.

Brasserie Provence’s Friday Bouillabaisse Plat du Jour will be specially and patriotically priced at $17.89, Bottles of French house wine will be available for $14 each and there will be additional “Let Them Eat Steak & Cake Specials” on offer as well.
