You’ve heard about it–how to open a champagne bottle with a saber! On Monday of Derby week, April 27, 5-7 p.m., at Brasserie Provence, G.H. Mumm Ambassador Jean De Castelnau will demonstrate exactly how that is done, so you can have time to practice before you try it in front of friends when you hit the Derby winner.

Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served, and those in attendance will have the choice of a 187 ml split bottle of G.H.Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut for $12 or a 750 ml bottle of G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut for half price. No reservations are necessary for this event.

Later in the week, Brasserie Provence is offering an Oaks and Derby dining special. The 4-Course Superfecta Dinner Menu will start with an assorted French Gourmet plate, followed by your choice of sea scallops, saffron risotto or tomato goat cheese tart as appetizer. Entrée selections include beef tenderloin porcini, Chilean sea bass pistou or lamb chops rosemary. Dessert choices include honey almond cheesecake, fig crème brulée, warm flourless chocolate cake, or mixed berries mousse.

The dinner will be $95, and tables reserved for the Superfecta event are guaranteed on Friday and Saturday for the entire evening.
