The long-awaited renovations to the old Tumbleweed space at 1201 River Rd. are now complete, and Doc’s Cantina will open for lunch tomorrow, April  5 at 11 a.m.

The newest addition to the restaurant portfolio of Falls City Hospitality Group, which also runs Dock Crow’s Southern Smokehouse and Raw Bar on Main St., was delayed by additional structural problems uncovered during the renovations.

The menu, created by corporate chef Jonathan Schwartz and executive chef Nick Platt,  will  feature Mexican dishes such as sopes, tinga chicken or grilled beef tongue tacos, chuleta and shrimp a la Diabla. Dishes will be accompanied, of course, by a variety of house-made salsas and hot sauces.

Brunch on Saturday and Sunday will offer blue corn waffles with candied jalapeno butter, cinnamon buns with orange jam and chilaquiles verdes. There will be tacos, of course, and margaritas and sangria, by the glass or pitcher.

Reservations for Thunder Over Louisville will be available immediately. Seats will cost $180 for all day access to the prime seating inside or on the patio and the full menu. Drinks and parking will be additional. For tickets, email event coordinator Emily McGee at EMcgee@FallsCityHospitality.com
