Food & Dining has remarked here on the daily posting, and has listed in the newest issue, on the newsstands soon, that the former D. Nalley’s diner was soon to open as Jay’s BBQ, to be run by Jay Shreve, long-time sous chef at Porcini.

This past weekend, Shreve called us to inform us that he will not be able to open his restaurant as planned. The sudden and unexpected death of his wife last month has made it impossible for him to continue with his long-planned dream of opening his own restaurant.

Shreve has completed the mechanical upgrades the building needed, while keeping the retro style of the interior. He says he is listing the building, and the smoker that he intended to use, on Craigslist for a very reasonable figure, adding that the site is ideal for some kind of interesting food business.

We at Food & Dining extend our sincere sympathies to Jay on his loss.
