Mint Julep Tours has begun two new “urban adventures” – a sightseeing tour of Louisville landmarks called Discover Derby City and a beer tour of the city’s best craft breweries called Brew in the Lou. Each half-day guided excursion is led by an enthusiastic tour leader in one of Mint Julep Tours’ vehicles.

The new tours started last weekend and will continue through November. These new public tours are in addition to Mint Julep Tours’ current full-day bourbon tour offerings, which take travelers to three Kentucky distilleries every Thursday, Friday and Saturday year-round.

Brew in the Lou beer tours will be offered select Sundays and Thursdays August through November, 2 to 6 p.m. Mint Julep tour guides will have you hopping between breweries and taprooms. Three breweries are on each tour, with tasting flights at each stop, and insight from the Mint Julep Tours ‘brew guru’ in between.

Brewery partners vary by day and may include Against the Grain, Great Flood, Goodwood, Apocalypse Brew Works, Falls City, Monnik or Mile Wide. Go to for specific stops on specific dates. The cost is $79, which includes guided transportation with a brew guru, three tours with tasting flights, pretzel necklace, and brewery swag.

The new Discover Derby City sightseeing tour runs on select Sundays and Thursdays, August through November, 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The tour focuses on Louisville’s history and heritage, traveling past more than 50 local sites like Whiskey Row and the city’s Cast Iron District, Falls of the Ohio and its skyline view back across to the city, historic homes in Old Louisville, landmarks of hometown heroes like Muhammad Ali, and neighborhoods like Butchertown and NuLu.

The cost is $59 and includes guided transportation with an expert tour leader and either a bourbon chocolate truffle tasting at Art Eatables (Thursday/Friday tours) or a visit to the Kentucky Derby Museum (Sunday tours) and walking tour of Churchill Downs.

The Mint Julep Tours departure site and retail store is in the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville at 140 N. 4th St. Ste. 226 on the third floor of the Rivue Tower. For more information or to make reservations for any public tour, visit or call (502-) 83-1433.
