Hermitage Farm’s Barn8 Restaurant & Bourbon Bar reminds us that Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 14. The establishment is located at 10500 W Hwy. 42 in Goshen, Kentucky, a 25-minute northeasterly drive from downtown Louisville.

Executive chef Seth Kinder offers an ever-changing seasonal menu highlighting locally sourced ingredients — many grown on the farm itself. A former dairy and horse barn, Barn8 features stalls repurposed to create individual dining spaces, an open chef’s kitchen, long communal farmhouse tables, and eclectic artwork selected by owners Steve Wilson and Laura Lee Brown. The restaurant’s Bourbon Bar & Lounge offers an extensive list of rare whiskeys and aged bourbons from its small batch program. The Bourbon Library also features whiskies available for purchase. Barn8 is open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. For more information or to make reservations, call (502) 889-1835, visit Hermitage Farm.

Barn8 Farm Restaurant & Bourbon Bar was profiled in Food & Dining Magazine’s Winter 2022 (Vol 76; December, January and February), with words by Kevin Gibson and photography by Dan Dry. It’s free to readers, and can be viewed at issuu.

Barn8 offers the quintessential farm-to-table experience. Hyper-local might be a buzzword, but it’s the right word for a place where many of the ingredients are raised right there on the historic grounds of Hermitage Farm, and form the basis for an upscale, yet approachable, seasonal menu that relies on harvests from an on-site greenhouse not only for its culinary offerings but also for its cocktail program.
