Heine Brothers’ Coffee, Louisville’s original fair trade and organic coffee roaster, announced last week that its new location at 414 Daisy Lane and State Street in New Albany, IN is now open. The new spacious 2,000 square-foot café will be the company’s 16th location and will include a convenient drive-thru as well as an outdoor patio.

Artist Monica Mahoney — best known for her art car creations for 21C Hotel, including the red bejeweled limo —  is working on a mural that will hang inside the new café. Mahoney is reproducing a vintage postcard of the second K & I Railroad Bridge, which was completed in 1912 and featured a remarkable rotating swing span that opened for the passage of ships in high water.

Friday, Feb. 15 at 9 a.m., Heine Brothers’ will hold an official grand opening ribbon cutting celebration at the State Street location.  That morning, the first 200 customers will receive a grand opening pack, which includes a limited-edition Heine Brothers’ New Albany reusable travel mug packed with special offers.

“This October will mark 25 years since we opened our first café,” said Mike Mays, Co-founder and President of Heine Brothers’ Coffee. “We’re proud that each of our cafés, including New Albany, have their own unique feel.”

Heine Brothers’ will also soon open a new café at 3541 Outer Loop, just off I-65 in the Okolona neighborhood.  A location at the new Bridgepointe Commons development at Gottbrath Parkway and Ind. 62 in Jeffersonville could open by the end of 2019.
