I mentioned in the recent F&D recipe story about pawpaws (below) that I would make a point to inform readers when paw paws are available at farmers markets. For two weeks now, I have been buying them at the Bardstown Road Saturday morning market at the Bardstown Road Presbyterian church, at the corner of Bardstown Rd. and Deerwood. Ivor Chodkowski’s Field Day Farm has an abundant supply, at a reasonable cost of $3 a pound. I have been pureeing the pulp and freezing it, with the intention of making a pie the first chance I get. I do not know if other farmers markets have them, but I would ask. Also, check out the produce section of Rainbow Blossom Foods, which carried them last year.

The inside of a pawpaw is soft and gooey.
