Copper and Kings, 1111 E. Washington St., will be the venue for the 2nd Annual Butchertown Porktoberfest, Friday, Oct. 10 from 5-10 p.m. There will be live music by Billy Goat Strut Revue, local brew from Apocalypse Brewery, cocktails from Copper & Kings, and food from more than 10 Louisville restaurants. (Vegetarian options also available.) Admission is free and food/beverage tickets will be sold, with all proceeds benefiting the Butchertown Neighborhood Association Inc.

And, of course, there will be a pork cooking competition. Five categories mean that more than half of the competing restaurants could take home an award, if the judges distribute the trophies the way elementary school teachers do.

Participating restaurants include Decca, Feast, Wiltshire, Gralehaus, Louisville Jerky Company, Holy Grale, Taco Punk, Troll Pub and Sidebar. They will be competing for Best Overall dish, a People’s Choice award, and prizes for Best Vegetarian, Most Creative, and Best Dessert. The Best Overall category will be selected based on taste, presentation and originality by a panel of judges, and the “People’s Choice,” “Best Vegetarian,” “Most Creative” and “Best Dessert” will be awarded by the attendees. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded.
