ROC, the Italian restaurant at 1327 Bardstown Rd. opened this past year by New York restaurateur Rocco Cadolini, has begun to serve Sunday brunch, but that refined late morning offering will be preceded this week by a Hallowe’en costume party dinner. Cadolini started this Hallowe’en tradition in his Tribeca restaurant after 9/11, “to bring up Tribeca’s spirit,” as he explained. That tradition will continue in Louisville, with a little twist.

The theme for the part Saturday, Oct. 28 will be ”Come as your favorite Rock, Pop or Country star.”  Costumes are suggested but not required. Come dressed as your favorite singing sensation and dj PJ Source will play a song that you can lip-synch along to. Prizes will be awarded for “favorite performance “and “Best Costume.“

As the accompanying photo suggests, the ROC staff will be in the spirit. Reservations are suggested.

Sunday brunch with an Italian flavor is now served on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The extensive menu options include several salads and even fried calamari. But the draw will be Italian dishes, such as Nonna Rosa “Uova Al Tegamino, ” spaghetti al burro with sunny side up egg, tomato and mozzarella; an open-faced panino with scrambled eggs and prosciutto; asparagus parmigiana with sunnyside egg  and a frittata napoletana with onions, among other selections.

Brunch cocktails will include a Sangria Del Giorno, an Aperol spritz and the Italian Stallion, a Bloody Mary garnished with the Italian flag (green olives staffed with Gorgonzola, mini mozzarella and cherry tomato on a skewer).
