The first of a series of summer progressive dinner food tours organized by Mint Julep Tours will be Wednesday, July 26, from 5:45 to 9:30 p.m., focused on a sampling of fried chicken.

This first tour will meet at Silver Dollar, 1761 Frankfort Ave. for chef James Lucas’ appetizer version of fried chicken, then board the Mint Julep bus to head to Rye, 900 E. Market St. for chef Zach Chancey’s creative main course. River House, 3015 River Rd. will be the stop for dessert. The dish at each stop will be paired with a cocktail. Additional beverages may be purchased at each stop.

The Mint Julep tour bus holds 22 guests. The cost of the dinner, drinks and chauffeured ride to and from the three restaurants will be $119.

Future summer dinner tours will all be inspired by traditional Southern dishes. The “Butter My Biscuit” dinner tour on Wednesday, Aug. 23 from 5 to 9:15 p.m.will try variations on that theme at Le Moo, Village Anchor and Picnic. The September 20 tour is entitled “Gettin’ Pickled,” and will meet at Proof on Main, and then proceed to Eiderdown and Varanese, to sample dishes of house-preserved foods crafted by the restaurant chefs. All are priced at $119 for three courses and three cocktails, plus the chauffeured ride.
