Restaurant specials this week are geared toward summertime tastes. Brasserie Provence provides a tasting of rosé wines on Wednesday, and LouVino veers a bit off its usual course and offers a Sunday brunch focused on beer and Bourbon.

Wednesday, July 26, Brasserie Provence, 150 N. Hurstbourne Pkwy., will offer a tasting event sampling rosés from Southern France. The wines will be served with a selection of small plates.

The wines to be sampled include Domain Le Pive, Sable de Camargue; Château de Lancyre, Pic Saint Loup; and Commanderie de la Bargemone, Cuvée Marina, Coteaux d’Aix en Provence.

LouVino has built a popular following for its varied, accessible wine lists, amusing flight concepts and tasty small plates menu. But on Sunday, July 30, the Highlands LouVino location, 1606 Bardstown Rd., will offer instead a beer and Bourbon brunch.

There will be two seatings, at 10 a.m. and at noon. At both, special guests Russ Meredith of Beer Syrup Company and Wes Henderson of Angel’s Envy will talk about their products, which chef Tavis Rockwell has worked into his menu. Each course will incorporate locally-owned Beer Syrup Company’s craft beer simple syrups and will be paired with half-sized cocktails featuring Angel’s Envy Bourbon.

The beer and bourbon brunch menu includes candied bacon granola with semi-dry cider syrup yogurt, paired with a Beermosa (semi-dry cider syrup, Angel’s Envy, lemon juice, orange bitters and pilsner) as a starter. The next course will be a lobster and crab quiche, with a small cocktail of double cold brew with Bourbon barrel stout syrup, coconut cream, Angel’s Envy and Hellfire Habanero Shrub.

That will be followed by country fried egg and steak with biscuit and goetta gravy, and a drink made with fresh orange juice, pecan nut brown syrup, Lillet Blanc and lemon. The final course will be stuffed French toast with chocolate coconut mascarpone, chocolate porter maple syrup and Angel’s Envy whipped cream. The final drink will be Angel’s Envy with chocolate porter syrup, coconut milk, shaved chocolate and coconut rim.
