Monday evenings, January through March, Mayan Cafe, Market St., will offer tamale and tequila specials, in addition to the regular menu. Aged craft tequilas will be paired with Chef Bruce’s handmade tamales, with different fillings featured each week. All tamales are gluten-free and every other week will feature a vegetarian version.  

January will feature Casa Noble reposado and añejo tequilas with these varieties of tamales: Jan. 5: oven-roasted lamb with Veracruz chocolate mole sauce and figs’ Jan. 12: butternut squash and black beans with beet sauce; Jan. 19: smoked chicken, spinach and queso fresco with tomatillo sauce; and Jan. 26: turnips and pumpkin seed puree with tomato casera sauce.

February will feature Chinaco reposado &and añejo tequilas with these varieties of tamales: Feb. 2: traditional Yucatec pork tamale with black bean sauce; Feb. 9: shittake, black beans and mozzarella with carrot-ginger sauce; Feb. 16: shredded rabbit and tomatoes with salsa negra; Feb. 23: poblano chilies, roasted corn and queso fresco with mulato cream sauce.

March’s menu choices will be paired with Casamigos reposado and añejo tequilas.
