The Wine Market, Lilly’s and Vintner Select have partnered to bring you a wine dinner on Tuesday, January 16 with Giovanni Bertani of Tenuta Santa Maria at Lilly’s, 1147 Bardstown Rd.. The doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is $100 per person, and you can call 502.451.0447 for reservations.

According to the Wine Market’s press release, the Bertani family is the famous family that actually invented Amarone.  Official documents from as early as the mid-1500s attest to the Bertani family heritage in the Valpolicella region, and the Tenuta Santa Maria’s Estate dates back to the 1700s. Giovanni will guide guests through a personal tour of their beautiful wines as each wine is paired to a special menu.

Dinner will include:

Fried Ricotta Gnocchi: Toasted Almond Beurre Noisette, Taleggio Cheese, Thyme, Crispy Kale. Paired with Tenuta Santa Maria 2016 Soave ‘Lepia”

Oyster Baked Halibut: Herb Carnaroli, Citrus Gastrique, Charred Broccolini, Roasted Garlic. Paired with Tenuta Santa Maria 2016 Chardonnay “Torre Pieve”

River Crest Farm’s Rabbit Ravioli: Prayer Mountain Mushrooms, Preacher Ham, Sauce Au Poivre, Sundried Tomato Pesto. Paired with Tenuta Santa Maria 2015 Verona Rosso “Pragal”

 Freedom Run Farm’s Braised Lamb Shoulder:Black Truffle Polenta, Broadbent Bacon, Local Greens, Corvina Demi-Glace. Paired with Tenuta Santa Maria 2015 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso

Local Cheese Plate:Pistachio Florentine Cookies, Prosciutto Timbale, Mission Figs, Local Honey Paired with Tenuta Santa Maria 2011 Amarone della Valpolicella
