The green chili harvest in Hatch, New Mexico, the chile capital of the world, is the occasion for a long weekend festival, with parades, Chile Queen crowning, jalapeño eating contests, dances and other festivities.

Chuy’s, 104 Oxmoor Court., and 1440 Veterans Pkwy., Clarksville, Ind., marks the occasion with several weeks of its own Green Chile Festival, which starts today, Monday, Aug. 17 and runs thru Sept. 6 at the both of the restaurant’s locations.

Chuy’s will celebrate with a special menu during the three-week period, one that will feature new dishes such as Green Chile Pork Tamales, Bacon Wrapped Pork Rellenos and Veggie Fajitas.

Two seasonal cocktails will also be featured,  Frozen Watermelon Margarita and a Spicy Cucumber Texas Martini.

Green Chile Festival tchotchkes will also be available, useful stuff like festival T-shirts, concert ear plugs and guitar picks.
