Twenty years of operating puts some wear and tear on establishment, so Uptown Café (1624 Bardstown Road) is scheduling some renovations to take place at the end of May.

According to general manager Kelley Ledford, the venerable Highlands restaurant, a former sister property to legendary Café Metro, will close for five to days at the end of May for a major spruce up. The restaurant will get a new interior paint job, refreshed bathrooms, new flooring, chairs and barstools, as well as a new bar top and face.

And while they’re at it, Ledford said to expect a beer list overhaul and the likely launch of its summer menu.

What’s cool for Uptown is industry research shows that facelifts give restaurants a significant business bump as patrons stop in to see what’s new.

Always a dandy place to take out-of-towners for Derby, click here to have a look at its current menus if you want to plan ahead (as anyone should if they want a restaurant seat that week) and make a reservation.
