The ownership and management team behind Wild Eggs said it will launch a new lunch and dinner restaurant named Wild Rita’s this month in the space once occupied by Mozz (445 E. Market Street).

According to a news release, Wild Rita’s will combine modern Mexican food, authentic beverages (including a tequila bar) and live music.

Chef Tony Efstratiadis has created an extensive, chef-driven menu that will include artisanal tacos, spit-roasted meats, ceviche, tamales, wood-fired chili rellenos, enchiladas and Mexican pizza. Prices will range from $3 to $20.

The bar within the 140-seat restaurant will feature more than 100 tequilas.

Todd Troy, proprietor and operating partner, will manage the concept.

According to the release, Wild Eggs owner, J.D. Rothberg, along with general manager Shane Hall, will maintain their focus on growing the successful breakfast concept, which has several operations in Louisville (a new one will open in downtown early next year), including outposts in Lexington and Denver.

“Authentic Mexican food has always been my favorite cuisine,” Rothberg said in the release. “Opening a restaurant like Wild Rita’s gives us the opportunity to be a part of a new, exciting venture in Louisville. I think people are going to be shocked when they step through our doors and realize that this is not just another Mexican restaurant.”
