Writing at the Louisville Courier Journal, Kathryn Gregory reports that Cosmic Bird (619 Baxter Ave. in Irish Hill), which introduced the word “fauxltry” (faux poultry) to local dining circles, will close at the end of September: Popular vegan restaurant in the Highlands to close less than a year after opening.

Gregory quotes Cosmic Bird’s announcement at Instagram.

“This will be our last month in operation (and) a joyous celebration on the Bird! We’re very grateful for all the love and support that you’ve shown us this last year. We’d like to thank all of the all-stars that have put in the word here at The Bird.”

But hope springs eternal.

“We don’t want to go anywhere! We’d love to stay open, and if we can, we will. But as of right now, this is our last month. This has been a very hard decision to make. We’re hoping for a miracle.”

There will be fauxltry specials for the remainder of the month as well as deals on Cosmic Bird’s other vegan offerings.
