Editor’s note: When I prepared this post early Thursday morning, something about the ambiguity in the story was nagging at me and I decided not to make the usual social media connections pending more clarity. Lo and behold, Amanda Hancock at the Courier Journal promptly provided it: Amid ‘confusion,’ ShopBar in Germantown will stay open. Here’s what to know.

As a prelude to today’s post, allow me to confide that the latent ambiguity in this story constitutes a red flag of sorts for me. We begin with the background, courtesy of Michael L. Jones at Louisville Business First.
Weather woes force owners to shutter ShopBar
ShopBar, located at 950 Barret Ave., will close permanently later this year. Co-owner Natasha Sud announced the decision to close in a Facebook post on Feb. 18.
Sud blamed the closure on a loss of foot traffic due to the inclement weather Louisville has experienced this winter, but she did not identify the last day the bar would be open.
Speaking as a former beer and pizza business owner, I absolutely hope ShopBar finds a way to stay in business, and prospers by doing so. After all, the weather will eventually get better. Check out ShopBar’s social media for breaking news, and keep your own tabs. I’ll be hoping for the best over here at F & D HQ.
