All the way back on August 14 (not quite a month ago), the Courier Journal’s Bailey Reed reported changes at Sofias 15, a Schnitzelburg establishment at 1039 Ash St. that opened in June: Sofias 15 is a pint-size gem in Schnitzelburg. What to know about new Mexican restaurant.
You may not have heard of this pequeño Mexican restaurant in Schnitzelburg, but you’ll want to add it to your “must-try” list. Sofias 15 opened June 15 at 1039 Ash St. as a neighborhood breakfast spot. The idea was born out of owner Jerrica Romero-Calderon’s passion for cooking.
According to Reed, Sofias 15 was transitioning from a breakfast-themed approach to that of broader-based taqueria, eventually to add margaritas to the bill of fare once the liquor license gained approval.
However, it now appears that the change is on hold, temporarily.

Effective Monday, Sept 9th, Sofias 15 will close for an extended amount of time. There’s just not enough business to maintain at this time. We are hoping to reopen some time in December once our liquor license is approved. So, come see us this weekend before we go ❤️
