In a statement at Facebook, Against the Grain explains the decision to close Public House by Against the Grain (1576 Bardstown Rd.), AtG’s Highlands extension, formerly Cumberland Brews (see below).
AtG’s mothership at Louisville Slugger Field and its production brewery remain up and running.
To our valued community,
After five memorable years at the Highlands Public House, we have made the difficult decision to close this location. The timing of our lease renewal, coupled with the changing landscape of the neighborhood and the evolving market, has led us to this choice. While this decision was not easy, it was made with the long-term success and stability of Against The Grain in mind.
The Highlands location opened just months before the global pandemic, which brought unforeseen challenges for businesses everywhere. Despite our best efforts, the shifts in the market and the neighborhood’s economic landscape prevented this location from reaching its full potential. With our lease maturing and operational permits up for renewal, we felt it was the right moment to focus our energy on our other locations and ensure a bright future for ATG.
We are grateful for the support of our customers, neighbors, and staff over the years. The friendships and memories built in this space will always be a part of ATG’s story. We look forward to continuing to serve you at our Downtown location, where we remain committed to delivering the same quality and experience you’ve come to expect.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. We are excited for what’s ahead and hope to see you soon.
With gratitude, Against The Grain
