Atlantic No. 5 is celebrating its fifth anniversary (under current ownership) with specials and giveaways. The party started on Monday and will continue for the whole month of March.
According to a new release, “Atlantic No. 5. offers a selection of homemade sandwiches, biscuits, salads, desserts, grab-and-go meals, as well as catering for breakfast and lunch. It’s located at 605 West Main Street in downtown Louisville and hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.”
Atlantic No. 5’s anniversary specials include:
- $5 egg and cheese biscuits with a small coffee (dine-in only until 11 a.m.)
- Weekly business card drop giveaways: a medium drink of choice for five weeks; t-shirts; and five cookies
- Social media contests in March (Facebook, Instagram) for free coffee and breakfast or lunch for two
Atlantic No. 5 was founded in 2013, and in 2015 the current management and ownership team of Chef Mary Wheatley and Chef Rebecca Johnson took over (Weston Marcum, founder of LEVO Capital retained his ownership share and remains aboard).
Wheatley and Johnson met in 1997 at Sullivan University’s School of Culinary Arts. Wheatley’s CV includes management at Breadworks, six years as the owner of Posh Pastries and Cook with Mary, a business “focused on teaching basic and advanced cooking techniques in small, intimate classes.”
Johnson’s Baking and Pastry Arts degree set the stage for a successful stint at Sweet Surrender Dessert Cafe, and as pastry chef for the late Dean Corbett’s popular Equus restaurant.
One more thing: What exactly does “Atlantic No. 5” mean?
Answer: It’s an old-school miner’s or factory worker’s metal lunch pail. This one is from the late 1800s.
