The Nostalgic Glory of the ’90s Chinese Buffet, by Naureen Khan (Bon Appétit)
Today, however, the heyday of the Chinese buffet seems to be long past. While some still exist throughout the country, all the ones we used to go to in my hometown—the China Gardens, the Super Buffets, the King Woks—have closed. Accordingly, King Buffet is bucking a trend; consider that the most uncertain early segment of the pandemic has faded sufficiently in the rear view mirror to the extent that we can report the opening of a buffet and maybe even restrict the discussion to food.
