Yesterday The LEE Initiative and APRON Inc. jointly announced the establishment of the Bluegrass Bartenders Fund. The information release is repeated here verbatim.

LOUISVILLE, KY — The LEE Initiative and Apron Inc. are proud to announce the launch of the Bluegrass Bartenders Fund, a dedicated hardship relief initiative designed to provide financial support to spirit industry professionals across the Louisville Metro area. This program honors the legacies of Marie Zahn and Felicia Corbett, beloved members of the hospitality community who embodied the spirit of care and compassion.

The Bluegrass Bartenders Fund offers immediate financial assistance to bartenders and their teams who have experienced significant hardships. The program aims to cover essential living expenses, including rent, utilities, childcare, and medical bills, ensuring that recipients can regain stability during challenging times.

How the Fund Works
The Bluegrass Bartenders Fund is administered by The LEE Initiative, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Louisville, KY and APRON Inc. Operating as a relief fund, the program provides one-time grants to eligible bar team professionals working in the local spirit industry. Applications will open in late summer of 2025. They will be reviewed by APRON Inc on a rolling basis, with funds awarded based on availability and urgency of need.

Impacting Lives, One Grant at a Time
The Bluegrass Bartenders Fund provides vital financial relief, empowering spirit industry professionals to navigate difficult circumstances. To qualify, applicants must work for an independently owned local restaurant, bar, or venue in the Louisville Metro area. By addressing urgent needs, the program ensures that our community members can focus on rebuilding without the burden of unmanageable expenses.

The LEE Initiative and APRON Inc. invites donors, community members, and stakeholders to join us in supporting Louisville’s vibrant and dedicated bartending community.
