Two new restaurants have opened in the Louisville area, one serving hot dogs and other family fare, and the other is a burger outlet in the food court at Mall St. Matthews.
Double Dogs, a Bowling Green, Ky.-based chain with four locations, has opened its first Louisville-area restaurant Monday, Jan. 23. The new outlet is at 13307 Shelbyville Rd., in Middletown.
The chain was started by Daniel Davis, who founded and owns the Rafferty’s Restaurant and Bar chain. According to a press release, Double Dogs is “a family-friendly restaurant with a sports atmosphere.” Its menu includes a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers and pizza.
The restaurant’s name was inspired by Davis’ dogs, Bo and Chancey.
The first franchise location of Michigan-based Freakin’ Unbelievable Burgers has opened at Mall St. Matthews, the third outlet, and the second one in Kentucky, after a Lexington store opened last year.
The restaurant is owned by Brittney Howard and her husband, Marcus Howard, who relocated to Louisville from Flint two years ago. Freakin’ Unbelievable Burgers offers fresh, made-to-order gourmet burgers with 44 topping choices, served on brioche buns. Also on the menu are chicken tenders, salads and sandwiches.
