Trouble Bar’s last night is NYE, but there’s a secret something to come

Previously it was revealed that the owners of Trouble Bar in Shelby Park (1149 S. Shelby St.) were embarking on a plan to shape-shift their concept in 2025. Accordingly, the business closed at year’s end, and the reinvention began.

Now, thanks to the ever diligent Michael L. Jones, whose food and drink coverage at Louisville Business First regularly laps the media field, we know what’s coming next: Nook & Nowhere.

Exclusive: Former Trouble Bar space will become a new bookstore and cafe

A new coffeehouse, café, bar, and bookstore concept is coming to a familiar location in Shelby Park later this year.

…Nook & Nowhere shares more than a location with Trouble Bar, it also has the same owners — Nicole Stipp and Kaitlyn Soligan-Owens.

In a recent interview with Louisville Business First, Stipp and Soligan-Owens said they were looking for a location for a daytime concept, but decided to use the Trouble Bar space because book lovers were already gravitating to the bar.

Stipp believes Nook & Nowhere will appeal to a wider audience because of the addition of coffee, food and books.

No opening date target was revealed. According to Soligan-Owens, conceptual comparisons are to be made with the Politics and Prose Bookstore and Kramer Books in Washington, D.C.
