According to the Courier Journal’s Amanda Hancock, Pop Culture Cakes has been around for a decade, with husband and wife team Samal and Delisha McNealy selling “canned cakes” at farmers markets and pop-ups, but only recently taking the plunge into bricks ‘n’ mortar at 1603 Jaeger Lane in the Highlands.

Cake baker, decorator and designer Samal McNealy had an idea … he mixed homemade cake and soda in a can to be baked, topped with frosting and candy.

The flavors on display include ginger spice, lemon shortcake float, grape punk, and orange creamsicle. The couple recently launched a line of alcoholic cakes, such as Kentucky bourbon chocolate cake, white rum strawberry cake, and vodka orange cake.
