When the plant-based Flora Kitchenette (1004 Barret Avenue) closed on December 31, 2020 after three years in business, owner Isabelle Forbes put her restaurant on the market and found buyers: Nancy “Sultra” Smith and Jeremy “Wize” Brown, also the owners of Sultra’s Vegan Kitchen, a social media and word-of-mouth vegan pickup and delivery start-up in need of room to grow.
(As a side note and a unique twist for Louisville, menus at Sultra’s have included vegan recipes from Cape Verde, an island nation situated in the Atlantic off the African coast, from which Smith’s family emigrated to the United States. For more, see Haley Cawthon’s story at Louisville Business First.)
As for what Smith and Wize have in mind for Flora Kitchenette, read al about it at Go Fund Me: “Help Sultra’s Vegan Kitchen Reopen Vegan Eatery.”
Sultra’s Vegan Kitchen is so very excited to bring you more gourmet vegan food with a breakfast/brunch twist. Sultra and the team look forward to cementing Flora Kitchenette as a community staple that will provide a safe and inclusive place for friends old and new to enjoy breakfast, brunch and coffee. SVK will still provide some of your favorites from last season as grab and go options.
