Louisville burger specialist W.W. Cousins has closed its two-year-old second location (4913 Dixie Highway) in Pleasure Ridge Park, announcing the decision in a Facebook post last week. The restaurant’s original location in S. Matthews at 900 Dupont Road remains open for business, as it has been since 1983.
The text reads:
We regret to inform that we have made the tough decision to permanently close our Dixie Highway location; however, our original location at 900 Dupont Rd. is still open.
Although this is a tough pill to swallow, we have learned significantly from our mistakes, and will take that knowledge to better, and continue serving our guests.
We greatly appreciate the support we have received from our guests, and are very thankful to have been a part of the Dixie Highway community for the last 2 years.
See you at our St. Matthews location.

W. W. Cousins closes one of its two Louisville locations
W. W. Cousins has been in operation for four decades. The restaurant, originally established by cousins Peyton and Crawford Wells, had previously opened a second location in 2013 under a licensee agreement on Outer Loop at a former Buckhead Mountain Grill restaurant.
That location closed before Nautical Restaurants Inc. took over W. W. Cousins from The Wells Co. in January 2017.
The business is now 100% employee owned, I reported in August 2020.

There are endless ways to customize their famous burgers, thanks to the forty-item toppings bar. Featuring an array of delicious sauces and condiments and various types of onions, pickles, lettuce, relish and more, the toppings bar is one of the things that has kept customers coming back all these years.
“We have a lot of really unique toppings and have something for even the pickiest member of your party,” (Marty) Johnson says. “Or you can opt for a plain, juicy burger right off the grill.”
WW. Cousins also offers several seafood choices and chicken and even has a gluten-free bun option. If you’d prefer no bun they can serve your burger that way as well.
