The first “Brew at the (Louisville) Zoo” was at least a thousand years ago — or maybe 2003. This photo of me talking with an animal dates to 2007.
Over the years the event has undergone a retrofitting. To be gentle, back in the beginning there could be a rugby scrum feel to the afternoon. Speaking personally, I fully approve the sentiment of the Friends of the Louisville Zoo board member last year, who said “Brew at the Zoo has grown up.”
As such, mark the calendars for Saturday, August 24 (5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)
“Brew at the Zoo with Wine and Food, Too!” fundraising event will feature an all-inclusive, VIP guest experience for everyone. Attendees can expect plenty of delectable catered food, delicious beverage tastings, animal encounters, special engagements with zookeeper staff, and special late-night food bites. They will also enjoy live music, oversized lawn games, and a silent disco in the Louisville Zoo’s shaded Islands habitat area alongside orangutans, tigers and more!
Unlike any other beer, food and wine tasting fundraiser in town, Brew at the Zoo with Wine and Food, Too! offers the exclusive opportunity to celebrate wildlife and join like-minded adults who share a passion for animals — and food, beer and wine, too! — to raise funds for the advancement of special Zoo projects and initiatives that support species conservation and education.
Go here to purchase tickets, and be aware that those attending the event must be 21 and over.
