The Buzzard’s Roost Whiskey Row Experience opened in late April downtown at 624 W. Main Street, a stone’s throw from 21c Museum Hotel.
The Whiskey Wash has this excellent overview.
Here’s an excerpt.
“This is a big step for us,” said Judy Hollis Jones, Buzzard’s Roost co-founder and CEO. “When we decided to open on Whiskey Row, we wanted the experience to go beyond the expected, like our whiskeys.”
“We’ll offer interactive classes for those who want to go deep into the how’s and why’s of bourbon and rye and craft cocktails, and during our tours, visitors will learn how our secondary maturation brings complex and rare flavor combinations to our whiskeys,” she added.
Bourbon expert and author Susan Reigler created three whiskey classes, and author and whiskey educator Heather Wibbels developed three hands-on cocktail classes, for the new experience. Each class includes tastings and will be taught by trained whiskey guides.
It bears mention that Susan and Heather are Food & Dining Magazine columnists. To mark the occasion, Buzzard’s Roost has released three new, limited whiskeys. They’re Founders’ Select 7-Year-Old Barrel Strength Bourbon ($125), Founders’ Select Single Barrel Rye ($75), and Founders’ Select Single Barrel Bourbon ($75).
The Whiskey Wash quotes Buzzard’s Roost Master Blender Jason Brauner: “Each special release was hand-selected by Judy and me. We know how much people love finding special bottles that can’t be found elsewhere, so we’ll introduce exclusives at the Whiskey Row Experience on a rotating basis.”
Of course, Brauner is a co-founder of Bourbons Bistro, which recently was honored as Bar of the Year, a sub-category of the prestigious Icons of Whisky awards (presented by American Whisky Magazine), for the second year in a row.
