In a rather speedy transition, Dallas McGarity’s The Fat Lamb restaurant will open this Friday at 5 p.m. for dinner, at 2011 Grinstead Dr., the former location of the relatively short-lived Fontleroy’s.
McGarity’s initial menu includes appetizers and salads of baked ricotta-stuffed eggplant, lamb meatballs with tzatziki and feta, pickled beets and shaved carrots in sherry vinaigrette, Greek salad, roasted Brussels sprouts with honey balsamic glaze, and a tomato and mozzarella salad.
His Pasta/Polenta offerings include spinach and ricotta gnocchi with truffled cream and roasted mushrooms, hand rolled beet pasta in white wine butter, slow cooked lamb ragu over creamy polenta, shrimp & “grits” (i.e. creamy polenta), and roasted root vegetables in curry cream over polenta.
Entrées include beef short ribs with beans and greens, a bone-in pork chop, seared scallops with cauliflower puree, lemon and paprika fried chicken breast, a Black Hawk Farms double cheeseburger and a fish of the day.
The appetizers and salads run from $9 to $12, the pastas and polenta $17 to $24, and the entrées $16 to $27. Dishes are labeled as gluten-free or vegetarian when appropriate, and there are a nice choice of each.
McGarity is also offering a “Choose 4” Chef’s tasting menu for $40 per person, for which the whole table must participate. That option also has an optional wine or cocktail pairing with each course.
