Here’s the history: Portage House (117 E. Riverside Dr. in Jeffersonville) debuted in late 2016 as the sister “fine dining” concept of Parlour Pizza, located a few blocks away, then was taken over by Chef Dallas McGarity in summer of 2018.

Battered by pandemic staffing shortages, Portage House closed in early 2021 (McGarity’s Highlands eatery The Fat Lamb continued to roll throughout) and the riverside building has remained vacant since then, amid perpetual rumors that something would be happening soon.

Now it has.

A second Game restaurant, called Game on the River, will be launched in the former Portage House space in November, bringing tastes of the wild and a fish dish or two to SoIN. Michael L. Jones has the rest of the story at Louisville Business First.

EXCLUSIVE: Game restaurant to open second location in former Portage House spot in Jeffersonville

A popular Louisville restaurant that serves exotic meats is opening a second location in Southern Indiana next month.

Game on the River is expected to open at 117 E. Riverside Drive in Jeffersonville in early November. The nearly 2,800-square-foot space was previously occupied by Portage House, which closed in April 2021.
