Fans, rejoice! Louisville’s fair trade and organic coffee chain Heine Brothers’ Coffee, announced today that it will be moving it’s café at 1295 Bardstown Rd away from the building it shares with Carmichael’s bookstore to take over the building in the Mid-City Mall parking lot recently left vacant by Dunkin’ Donuts.
“Our customers have been asking for more seating and parking for a while now, so the move just makes a lot of sense,” said Heine Brothers’ President Mike Mays in a press release. “We will go from less than 800 square ft. to a more comfortable 2,000. Our plan is to completely transform the building to make it blend in better with the unique feel of Bardstown Road. We’re looking at a few different designs, including the possibility of adding a locally-produced mural celebrating the Highlands and our 23+ years in the neighborhood.”
The company only expects to be closed for a day or two to make the move later this spring. Heine Brothers’ also plans to hire up to six new baristas to staff the new, larger café, which will also include an easily accessible drive-thru.
Mays added, “We are also happy that the new location will still be just a few steps from Carmichael’s Bookstore.”
