It hasn’t even been two weeks since I wrote this paragraph.

Joy Luck’s East End location at 9850 Von Allmen Court has closed after a nine-year run. The announcement appeared at Facebook. Joy Luck’s flagship in the Highlands (for purists, actually it’s Cherokee Triangle; 1285 Bardstown Rd.) remains open for business.

Well, that one didn’t age very well, did it? Yesterday at the Courier Journal, Amanda Hancock reported that Joy Luck’s flagship was shuttered, too.

Popular Asian restaurant in the Highlands closes. Here’s what to know

“We’ve made the difficult decision to close our doors after 10 years of serving customers with delicious East Asian fare,” a representative from The Joy Luck told the Courier Journal.

In what might be regarded as a sign of the times, Hancock also noted that a branch of Playa Bowls could be moving into Joy Luck’s vacated Bardstown Road storefront.
