It’s been just a couple months since North End Cafe closed its doors, and we reported that a Latin restaurant was coming. Now, bright new colors adorn the inside (greens, pink, purple, red) and outside (blue and red) of 2116 Bardstown Rd where La Suerte has opened to serve breakfast (Thursday through Sunday), lunch and dinner.
North End Cafe owner Chris Seckman has partnered with Executive Chef Adrian Jimarez Neri (also known as Jo-Jo) and Oscar Ortiz, who will serve like a general manager. Jimarez has worked at North End Cafe for 14 years and has designed his menu around Mexican and South American cuisines. He told Food & Dining that some of the dishes are inspired by his mother and grandmother, especially the barbacoa.
Brunch features molletes, picadillo, migas, huevos rancheros, jalapeno biscuits & chorizo gravy, carne con huevos and others for a price range of $2.50 (for 2 Ires Leches Pancakes or Cornmeal buttermilk pancakes) to $13 for carne con huevos.
The dinner menu is definitely meet heavy with plenty of seafood options. Appetizers like fried calamari, shrimp seviche, buffalo wings, mussels, pollo tostadas, shrimp a la parilla and others range from $5 to $11.
Entrees feature lamb chop barbacoa, cochinata pibil, pork posole, shrimp a la diablo (the devil’s shrimp) and more, all of which range from $9 for torta pastor to $24 to the lamb chop barbacoa.
The lunch menu is made of items perhaps more familiar to American diners with a couple salads, a torta, grilled chicken, a burger, Mexican blackened salmon, and quesadillas. The prices range from $6 to $22.
