The owners of Jimmy’s Corner Market in Old Louisville have purchased the former Koko + Rae at 1511 Bardstown Road, henceforth to bear the “Mom’s Kitchen” identity, and they’ll be serving their Indian cuisine in the Highlands as well as the Caribbean recipes of their predecessors (photo credit: the establishment, via Google search).

Small Plates: Mom’s Kitchen opens in former KoKo + Rae location

A new fast-casual Indian restaurant opened in the Highlands this month. Mom’s Kitchen is located at 1511 Bardstown Road, near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Eastern Parkway. The 1,700 square foot building was previously occupied by the Caribbean restaurant Koko + Rae. Prior to that, it was the Shahar Café.

The Caribbean menu at Mom’s Kitchen includes items like jerk chicken, beef patties and oxtails … the Indian menu features chile chicken momos (dumplings), chicken tikka masala, fish curry with rice, and aloo gobbi (potato cauliflower). Prices will range from $3.99 to $20.99.
