When the announcement broke on Facebook that Ramiro’s Cantina would be closing its Frankfort Avenue location tomorrow after 15 stellar years, one sentence in particular caught my eye: “Please visit us at our new location in Jeffersonville, IN at 149 Spring Street.”
That’s because from our vantage point at Common Haus Hall, we’d been watching remodeling under way for the past two months right across the street at the former Dos Gringos (and more famously, Ann’s by the River).
Yesterday I snapped a few photos to illustrate the chronology in Jeffersonville. Here’s the existing Ramiro’s Cantina Express storefront at 253 Spring St.
The banner tells the tale, but the moving announcement posted on the door has further details:
And, the new digs, less than a football field away from the old:
Over at Louisville Business First, Michael L. Jones has more: “The closure of the Clifton location is part of a larger plan to consolidate (owner Ramiro Gandara’s) business, so he could focus on his catering business and operating his three food trucks.”
Gandara told Jones that a tenant is lined up for his now redundant space: “Yellow Cactus will move into the current Ramiro’s Cantina Express location at 253 S. Spring St. once he opens the new fast-casual restaurant. The Yellow Cactus has a Louisville location at 9111 Galene Drive in Jeffersontown, and another one in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.”
