Sapporo Japanese Grill, the popular, long-running Highlands restaurant, has suddenly closed its downtown restaurant, at 649 S. Fourth St. The handsome renovation of the site that had once been the popular African soul food restaurant Kilimanjaro, had had a six-year run.
According to a story in Insider Louisville, the downtown site closed with a simple posted sign on the door: “Our apologize, but …we will be closing. Thank you for your support for the past 6 years.”
The Highlands location remains open, and the closing sign encouraged patrons to visit the Highlands store, which was extensively renovated within the past year.
