Louisville’s Urban Bourbon Trail has almost 40 registered whiskey dispensaries for those in pursuit of peak bourbonism.

A day in Kentucky’s Bourbon Country is not complete without taking in Louisville’s Urban Bourbon Trail®. This curated collection of local bars and restaurants were created to complement a day of touring distilleries. Staff at each of the stops have a wide knowledge of whiskies, some of the city’s largest collections of Bourbon and in most cases even Bourbon-infused cuisine.

Use the list to simply help navigate the city’s finest Bourbon cocktail and culinary experiences or check-in at least six participating locations to earn yourself an official Urban Bourbon Trailblazer t-shirt which can be redeemed at the Louisville Visitors Center at 301 S. 4th St. in downtown Louisville.

How many stops are enough? 35, or 45, even 55?

The naysayers will scoff, but when were THEY ever in the arena, putting their money on the line? The market obviously continues to support our myriad bourbon bars, and the proper attitude is “the more the merrier,” right up until it’s not.

Cured ham-fisted foreshadowing aside, we see that a new bourbon “lounge” will open this autumn in NuLu, and reporter Eleanor Tolbert offers this report at Louisville Business First. Whether Seven Bourbon & Cocktail Lounge is included as a stop on the Urban Bourbon Trail will depend on how many bourbons are stocked:

All stops offer bourbon flights, special bourbon cocktails and have at least 60 different bourbon varieties on the bar with trained staff that can explain the nuances and tasting notes in the varied offerings.

Take it away, LBS.

Seven Bourbon & Cocktail Bar to open in NuLu

A new bourbon lounge is set to open in NuLu.

Seven Bourbon & Cocktail Lounge will open this fall in NuLu Marketplace at 815 E. Market St. Owner Clay Livingston said the bar will offer a menu of seven specialty cocktails and seven light bites.

“We’re trying to keep things kind of self-contained,” Livingston said. “We think seven is kind of the sweet spot for most things.”

The menu will have exclusive bourbons and avant garde cocktails, like clarified milk punches and carbonated and bottle cocktails.
