A big part of this story has yet to be revealed, but for now, 96-year-old The Cottage Inn (570 Eastern Parkway) in the St. Joseph neighborhood is closed.

The current owners posted at Facebook.

Their text:

Hey y’all — We’ve Got Some Big News

After many wonderful years serving up southern comfort food and good vibes, we’re closing this chapter of Cottage Inn Restaurant. It’s been an honor to cook for you, laugh with you, and be a part of this amazing community.

But don’t worry — this isn’t the end for this historic location! 🎉 New ownership is stepping in soon, and while things may look a little different, we’re excited for what’s ahead.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all the love and support over the years. We’ll miss seeing your faces, but we know the best is yet to come.

Much love,

The Cottage Inn Team

To summarize: The Cottage Inn definitely has closed; details about projected new owners are not known at this time; and (is “ominous” the right word?) “things may look a little different” when the new owners arrive.

As the radio host once stated, “there you have it.” The Courier Journal’s Amanda Hancock also has a summary here.

In the Spring 2024 edition of F & D, our editor-in-chief and columnist Marty Rosen surveyed The Cottage Inn following its post-pandemic revival.
