Over at Louisville Business First, the redoubtable Michael L. Jones has breaking news about the expansion of a veritable Germantown food and drink conceptual theme park (emphasis mine).
Hauck’s Corner owners to open new bar/restaurant in former Tim Tam Tavern
A new bluegrass-themed fried chicken restaurant is coming to the former Tim Tam Tavern in the Audubon neighborhood, near Germantown.
The Dirty Bird is a new concept from the ownership group behind the Germantown restaurants Hauck’s Corner, Baked AF and Breakfast AF and Pizza AF*, which all are located next to one another on Goss Avenue.
Tim Tam opened in 1958 and was named after the Kentucky Derby-winning horse that year. We reported it had closed and reopened under new ownership back in 2018.
As an aside, it seems almost quaint to name a food service establishment after a Derby winner as opposed to a focus group’s findings, so fare thee well, Tim Tam. Meanwhile, the ongoing Germantown food and drink boom prompts an analogy drawn from a different sport, courtesy of the late, great Yogi Berra: “Nobody ever goes there anymore — it’s too crowded.”

* Forget any lively debates over the contemporary urban etymology of the acronym; with elegant simplicity it stands for the initials of the owners’ given names: Allan Rosenberg and Fred Pizzonia.
